Janet Wentworth developed her love for country music during her childhood within a big family in a small town on the coast of Maine. She fondly remembers the sound of her mother's voice as she sang the songs of Patsy Cline or Hank Williams around the house or in the car on family outings. As a teenager Janet enjoyed and was influenced by many different kinds of music, however as a singer her true love has always been the meaningful and soulful sounds of country. Although Janet has always received many compliments for her powerful voice and authentic delivery, it is only within the last four years, with the support and encouragement of her husband Kevin that she has begun pursuing her "country singer" dreams. Since the winter of 2001 she has won numerous awards from the country music organizations in Maine. In 2004 she won the Female Entertainer of the Year award in Traditional Country for all New England. Janet performs throughout Maine in many different venues. She is a confident singer who is comfortable on stage and in the studio as well, having just completed her first CD entitled "Merle Haggard's Baby." This CD is rich in traditional sounding country as well as "Tex-Mex" and country blues. It features songs from Maine songwriters as well as Nashville writers. Janet Wentworth is well known to her fans in Maine for her unique voice and her smooth and emotion evoking singing style. It is her dream to take that unique gift beyond the borders of Maine and share her talent with a worldwide audience.
